International Women's Day talk

Friday 8th March, 2019

Eastbury with spring flowers

To celebrate International Women's Day we will be hosting a talk entitled Goods and Chattels: The Life and Times of a Tudor Gentlewoman. The talk will explore the life of a key woman in Eastbury's history: Anne Sisley.

This talk is free of charge, and will be subject to neccessary demand. Please register for tickets here to confirm your place.

The life of Eastbury's Anne Sisley, was punctuated by events and decision making familiar to women in our modern world. How did she view her role within the family and society? What has changed since she was a young wife and mother during Elizabeth I's reign, over 450 years ago?

Informed by extracts from her will and those of friends and family, explore the contemporary world of Anne, wife and widow of  Eastbury's builder, Clement Sisley. The talk is given by expert volunteers; Pat and Barbara Elliot.

Eastbury Manor House is open between 10am and 4pm on Friday 8 March and refreshments will be available throughout that time to purchase from the Eastbury Kitchen.
